Haha, well, your days of thinking was worth it because I laughed out loud :)

Logan, I feel like I should bow down to you for tackling A Game of Thrones. I have a few of the books, but they’re so big and I really don’t want to get into the series until he finishes writing it. But I want to watch the show (which I’m hoping isn’t all sexed-up like the movie channels tend to do). Thank you for what you said about my handling of the situation.

Lazy Girl, :) I appreciate your comment. What you said about seeing books in mailboxes is one of the main reasons I do the DNF mini-“review” I got a lot of questions about books in my mailbox that I never reviewed because I had DNF-ed them. This seemed like a good compromise because I don’t like writing a full review for a book I didn’t finish.

Missie, That’s what the recaps are for :) There really is a flood of awesome e-galleys available right now. Net Galley and Simon and Schuster should buy stock in e-readers because they really make me want to buy an e-reader.Small Reviewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16072352095510905410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955420282479112508.post-85915215724157162742011-04-18T19:21:22.086-04:002011-04-18T19:21:22.086-04:00How do I always miss out on a bunch of your awesom...How do I always miss out on a bunch of your awesome? The new one is so much prettier. I hope you enjoy the book. I'm going to keep an eye out for certain bloggers' reviews (yours included) to see if I should pick it up again. I haven't written it off completely yet.

Truly Bookish, Yes Jacqueline Howett certainly didn't do herself any favors! I read all my e-books on the computer since I don't have an e-reader, but it can get very tiring. It's also so frustrating not being able to bring the book with me when I leave the house. I never thought I'd want an e-reader, but Net Galley is changing my mind!

Alex, I really like her writing style so far. It's spooky and atmospheric with a main character I immediately like. I hope you enjoy it!

Julie, Thanks again :) I do it mostly because readers see what I get in my mailbox and then follow up to see how I liked the books. Plus, just because I didn't like a book doesn't mean someone else won't, and this allows them to see my reasoning.

Need Tea, I'm super interested in seeing your thoughts on Two Moon Princess when you read it. It was technical problems with Ravenwild. I don't accept self-published books but this one slipped by me. I didn't realize it was self-published until I already had the book. If there's obvious problems with the writing, not because of stylistic preferences, but technical ones that hampers your enjoyment of the story it's not your fault - it's theirs. I make every effort to accommodate specific and reasonable requests, but since you did not make one I had no way of knowing you were dissatisfied with my review policy. I must assume that anyone emailing me with a review request has read my policy and agrees to the terms I have set.

I make it clear why I chose not to finish a book and what page number I read up to. I am sure you are not alone in thinking fifteen pages is not enough to form an accurate opinion. That is why I include page numbers- so readers can form their own conclusions about what I post.

I do, however, have a right to discuss what I have read, regardless of how many pages. I will discuss the grammatical issues with you privately if you wish.

Julie, Two Moon Princess was a disappointment for me, but I may chalk that one up to mood. I wouldn't write it off if it sounds good to you. The Near Which I will definitely be picking up again sometime. Thank you for your comment on Ravenwild. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.

Yiota, I hope you enjoy Ravenwild. I would give Two Moon Princess a try. I read a rave review and the book seemed promising. I'm sorr...Yiota, Julie and everyone else,
I'm sorry if my first comment came off as insulting. My point is that if a person cannot complete chapter one, let alone the other 34 chapters in a book, then they have no authority or right to comment on it at all. Ravenwild is not a tawdry dime novel that you can read in a night. It's not a throwaway, mass-marketed book. It's a complex novel that interweaves several plot lines and requires some thinking on the part of the reader. Some people simply won't have the 'head' for it.
As with any first printing, there may be a few typos, but there are no grammar or syntax problems with Ravenwild. It's been looked at several times over by a few editors and English majors. If there are such errors, I would be eager for her to discuss them with me.
We have had a couple reviewers who have read up to an early point in the story and said that it just wasn't for them. They did not post anything on our book because they said it would not be fair of them to do so without having completed the book. To do otherwise would be unfair and an affront to the author and future readers. That is the correct and fair policy to follow in my opinion.
Deni, thanks for giving Ravenwild a try. I wish you the best.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12851980585077686577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8955420282479112508.post-24579357386467741132011-04-15T07:49:47.137-04:002011-04-15T07:49:47.137-04:00@xraymike79: "You are the first for that one....@xraymike79: "You are the first for that one. I'm disappointed about the Disney-Hyperion books not being on Kindle.

And as far as you not liking Ravenwild...well, not every book we're going to like, right? I think it's most important you were honest. I have the book for review, too. But as far as Mike saying "I guess it's above your reading level"...let's not go all Jacqueline Howett on reviewers. We already witnessed that negative review fiasco. It's great a lot of people have liked the book. I read a review by a blogger who loved it, so I'm excited to read it. But we can't say things like that. Writing requires a thick skin and taking criticism all in stride. You have to throw it off and continue on. The best advice is to not comment on negative reviews.
