If you've written your own replies to Cecelia, please share your links in the comments—I would love to read them!

And if you were wondering why all the sudden talk about Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot, the reason is because it is finally being released in e-format!

More Enchanted Chocolate Pot Blog Fest!

Last week I got to show you the "game" version of the first letter in Sorcery and Cecelia, or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.

Today I get to share with you the "official" version! That is, the version that appears in the book, which you can now buy in e-format! (But it's still available in print for all of us e-reader-holdout Luddites.)

After 6 months, Wrede and Stevermer concluded their game, brought all of their letters together, and decided to edit them and make them into a novel. It's fascinating to see what changes they made to facilitate the makings of a congruent story.

But, whatever format you prefer, you should totally check this series out if you aren't already familiar with it. Remember what I said last week? Jane Austen + J. K. Rowling—You can't go wrong with a combo like that!

Click the picture so it gets big enough that you can, you know, actually READ it. :)

Stay tuned Wednesday for Kate's reply letter!

Now, when I was originally asked to partake in this tour, I was offered the option of either posting Kate's reply, or writing my own reply.

Much as I think it would be cool to write a reply to Cecelia, I am so NOT creative enough to do that. So I'm taking the easy way out and posting Kate's actual reply.

BUT, you can totally join in on the fun!

You can write and post your own reply to Cecelia on your blog and link it up in the comments Tuesday so we can all see your creative replies! I'd love to see what you come up with (and I know some of you are awesome writers!)

The Enchanted Chocolate Pot Blog Fest!

I often say that I'm not creative and that I am an absolutely abysmal fiction writer, so I am always super impressed when already creative authors take things a step further.

I can think of few better examples of this than the birth of one of my favorite books, Sorcery and Cecelia, or the Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer.

Haven't heard of it? You are missing out! Imagine if this lady:

Got together with this lady:

You'd pretty much get:

And if THAT weren't enough to convince you about the awesomeness level in this book, check out the origin story that goes along with it!

"The correspondence between...New York Times bestselling authors [Patricia C. Wrede and Caroline Stevermer] began first as a hobby: two writers writing to one another in character as two young girls in Regency-era England where magic is acceptable practice, but danger lies around every corner as a result. Their names are Kate and Cecy: Wrede as Cecy, and Stevermer as Kate.

After some time, Wrede and Stevermer’s letters accumulated to such an extent that a book was born."

Isn't that cool?! Sorcery and Cecelia is finally making its debut in e-format, and to help celebrate the release I'm allowed to share one of the original letters with you today!

This is Wrede's First move in the Letter Game she and Stevermer decided to start playing for fun back in April of 1986. There were no rules of the game, except the notion that each writer must remain in character for all the letters, and that no one is to reveal where they hope to see the story go: therefore fostering an authenticity behind the uniquely co-written story. So, when Wrede wrote this first letter as Cecy, she was completely unaware as to how Stevermer/Kate would reply.

But wait, there's more!

Stay tuned next week when you can get another peek into the world of writing. This letter above is the unedited "game" edition, but next week I'll have the cleaned up version that appears in the book. I don't know about you, but I love seeing how a piece of writing changes and evolves. You'll also get the opportunity to weigh in on which version you prefer!

Do you know any cool writing "behind the scenes" stories?

Have you ever played a game like this? I'd love to, but I don't think I'm creative enough to pull it off!

Have you read Sorcery and Cecelia?
