How to Schedule Posts

How to Schedule Posts

What You Will Learn

You will learn how to schedule your posts so you can write them in advance and set them to automatically post at a later time or date.

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

Write your post as you normally would. Then click on "Post Options" on the bottom left.

Click to make larger

Step 2:

The screen will expand and you'll see a bunch of options. Click on the button for "Scheduled at" You will then be given two more boxes for the date and time. Set those boxes to whatever date and time you want to schedule your post.

Click to make larger

Step 3:

Click the "Publish" button like you normally would. Your post will then be published at the date and time you set.

The form is anonymous, so please don't feel shy at all!

I'm certainly not an expert, but I'll try my hardest to explain what I do know and research what I don't know.

  1. You should really ask before stealing my screen shots. I just had to go back and re-write my Best Post Ever.

    Pshaw.

  2. I figured this out relatively recently. It's a great thing to do. Especially when you're going on vacation.
Out of curiosity, did you schedule this post? :-)

  5. Logan, HAHAHAHAHAA I BEAT YOU TO IT!!! HAHAHA! *does tiny touchdown dance*

    *cough* I mean, I'm sorry Logan :)

Alison, it works very well when you have a lot of work too (which is what I need it for and not because I'm on awesome vacations.... :P

And, why yes, I did schedule this post!

    Nic, You're welcome!

The Lovely Getaway, I kept doing that and wondering why it never scheduled. I was even nervous the first time I hit publish for a scheduled post! I was afraid it wouldn't work and would post immediately. Silly me.

  6. Of course it's a tiny touchdown dance. In your case, it's probably a really teeny tiny touchdown dance.

You know. Because you're so SMALL.

    Oh. Snap. ;)

  7. Curses! My attempt at subtle punnery was foiled! Punnery? Ack, I need to go to bed. Of course now I'll probably be laughing in my sleep thankyouverymuch. Seriously, when you write your book you need to include a disclaimer warning people not to read it in public or before bedtime due to bouts of spontaneous laughter and sever side splitting.

  11. Great advice. It took me a while to figure out how to schedule post. I was happy when I finally did. I think that as a newbie blogger, it important to know how cause it saves a lot of time.

  14. Smalls, this is truly embarrassing, but it took me forever to figure out how to schedule a post. Now I can't imagine my life without this feature. LOL

    Love your tutorials.

  15. I'd be lost without the possibility of scheduling posts. There's nothing that feels so great as being able to line up a weeks worth of posts, before you go on vacation or something, knowing that your blog will keep on humming right along!

  16. Whoa!? I didn't know you could do that! Thanks so much, see I learn so much from reading!

  18. I had this feature on Quick Blogcast. I'm so glad I have it on Wordpress. Definitely usefully when we don't want to be on our blog every day!

  19. Lol, I only learned how to do this last month. It's a very useful feature :)

  21. I'm glad you all found this helpful! It took me a very long time to realize I could schedule posts, and then even longer to figure out how! The dense part of me would have appreciated a big, clear "Schedule" button instead of having to click "publish" That really threw me off.

  22. I have been doing this wrong for so long I just thought my PC was flukey. I never hit publish. Man the time this could have saved me if I'd read that last bit! Thanks Small! Again, your the greatest!

  23. Heather, Aw, I did the same exact thing for a while and I thought it just wasn’t working too. It makes me nervous every time I hit publish (I’m always afraid it will publish it right then). :P

It's all about friendly conversation here at Small Review :) I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Be sure to check back again because I do make every effort to reply to your comments here.

Because I am absolutely terrible about following through with blog awards, I can't in good conscience accept any more. Thank you very much for thinking of me though!
