How to Customize a Comment Form Message

Ever notice when you leave a comment, some blogs have cute little messages above the form?

Want do learn how to add one of your own? It's a quick and easy thing to do, but figuring out how can be surprisingly difficult! Hopefully this tutorial will help point you in the right direction.

What You Will Learn

I'll show you how to make a customized message on your comment form. Here is an example of my own customized comment form message:

Let's Do This!

Step 1:

Go to your menu options. Click on the tab for "Settings" and then select "Comments"

Step 2:

Scroll down until you see a section labeled "Comment Form Message" There should be an empty box next to this label. Just type in your message and save your settings!

And that's all there is to it!

If anyone has any other questions or requests for future How To posts, you can either ask them in the comments or email me. Please don't feel shy at all!

I'm certainly not an expert, but I'll try my hardest to explain what I do know and research what I don't know.

  1. I have wondered how to do that!

It seems that on many blogs I visit they have their own personalized message in the comment form, and I've been wanting to make my own. Thanks so much for your helpful blogging posts! Can't wait to try this out!

  18. I just did what you said, but my message shows up UNDER the comments box, not above it. How did that happen? More important...how do I fix it?

    1. Hm, sounds like the code of your blog is setting the comment below the box. You'd have to go into the HTML part of your blog and play around with the placement, but that's a bigger task.

    1. Welcome to blogging! :)

I know you can install different comment systems like Disqus and Intense Debate, but I'm personally not a big fan of either and so haven't looked into them so I can't offer detailed instructions on how to install them. Both systems have the commenter include information like what you're looking for.

Blogger does include the name and then a link to the person's blogger page (which has a link to their website and their email, if they choose to share that). This is set up automatically for you on a blogger blog.

Because I am absolutely terrible about following through with blog awards, I can't in good conscience accept any more. Thank you very much for thinking of me though!
